POSITION SUMMARY:
The Facility Landscape Team Member will collaborate with the Director of Facilities on the daily maintenance and upkeep of the facilities' grounds, buildings, and sports fields. This position involves performing work related to landscape maintenance, facilities, and the overall appearance of the property. The role includes carrying out manual tasks that require skilled or specialized knowledge, gained through on-the-job training or experience.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Landscape Maintenance Tasks:

Performs manual labor in support of landscape maintenance and upkeep projects.

Performs manual work functions associated with maintenance projects; installs and repairs irrigation systems, pipe, and associated irrigation parts; cleans ditches, retention ponds, and drainage obstructions.

Mows grass and weed eats; around buildings and edges buildings, roadways, parking lots, landscaped areas and sidewalks; plants trees and maintains trees, shrubs and flowers; spreads pine straw; lays sod and/or spreads grass seed; applies fertilizer, insecticides and herbicides; blows leaves and debris from hard surface areas; picks up and disposes of debris and litter from ground areas; empties trash containers.

Operates a variety of machinery, equipment and tools associated with ongoing projects, which may include but not limited to, push lawn mowers, riding lawn mowers, edgers, weed eaters, leaf blowers, chain saws, power saws, pruners, shovels, gators, skid loaders, pumps,

Keeps inventory of supplies, equipment, and maintenance logs.

Completes special projects and daily assignments as directed by the Director of Facilities.

Follows established safety procedures; utilizes safety equipment and wears protective gear (PPE), monitors the work environment to ensure safety of employees and the public.

Gathers tools, equipment, parts, and supplies needed to conduct assigned work activities; ensures availability of adequate parts and materials to conduct assigned work.

Checks, cleans, and repairs as much as possible to facility landscape equipment.

Assists in the setup of athletic event needs.

Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent certification requirements.
- General knowledge of landscaping activities, general maintenance and janitorial.
- Experience with irrigation systems includes but not limited to programming, troubleshooting, repairs, and installation.
- Equipment knowledge and some mechanical skills preferred.
- Experience in working with sports facilities and associated maintenance is preferred.
- Understands both oral and written communication.
- Effective communication skills.
- Works independently with minimal supervision.
- Effective time management skills.
- Prior experience using maintenance equipment and procedures.
- Candidate must be willing to work long hours and varying shifts including nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Will be required to lift up to 50lbs consistently.
- Will be required to work in all environmental conditions.
- Will be required to paint, clean equipment, and safely handle chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, solutions, pesticides, fertilizers, herbicides in dry, liquid, powder, spray and aerosol forms.
- Will be required to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
- Will be required to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve but are not limited to the following activities: semi reaching to full-reach overhead; crouching; kneeling; shoveling; work in narrow and/or confining spaces; underground; overhead; and at ground level; twisting of the waist. Shoulders, and legs; and lying on stomach and/or back.
