SPORTS & FITNESS DIRECTOR

STATUS:                                   FULL-TIME

Esmeralda Sports & Leisure Club is a soon-to-be-launched, premier lifestyle facility, situated in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC). Its aim will be to provide an exclusive lifestyle experience and delivery on the healthy living targets. Set over 50,000 m (15,000 m built-up area), Esmeralda will act as a hub for the local community, while enriching the premium offering of KAEC. Appealing to the casual sports enthusiasts and professional athletes, Esmeralda will also serve the growing population of expats and Saudi's in KAEC, Industrial Valley, Rabigh and Jeddah. As the first major sports and leisure facility in the area, Esmeralda will bring awareness on healthy living not only to the KAEC community but to the entire Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sports Leagues, Fitness & Program Director will be in charge of the organization and running of the facility's fitness, aquatics, nutrition, sports and non-sports programs, including leagues, tournaments, after-school programs, and any other programs held.  The director will work closely with the individual leaders of each program as well as other internal departments (Operations, Marketing, etc.) in order to successfully accomplish these responsibilities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Plan, develop and execute the facility's sports programs, camps, leagues, and tournaments
  • Lend support to other Sports Managers and Coaches
  • Manage ongoing facility schedule
  • Develop programming to target various markets ranging from corporate, group, adult/youth/family, and special interest groups
  • Interview, hire, train, supervise and evaluate the program staff
  • Design, develop and innovate products to Esmeralda leading edge standards
  • Develop program schedules, fitness testing schedules and personal training schedules based on guest demand
  • Maintain all safety and equipment standards
  • Remain current with all staff certifications and licenses
  • Design and develop all program-related materials and forms for program implementation
  • Develop and manage program budgets
  • Create and develop sales initiatives and goals for leagues, tournaments, special events, etc.
  • Generate sales through networking, building relationships, and creating strategic alliances
  • Track and report weekly sales totals
  • Oversee all aspects of programs and special activities
  • Offer ongoing presentations, seminars, and demonstrations on programs and fitness-related topics
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures for programs and program staff
  • Develop Job Descriptions for program and staff
  • Work with third-party partners to maximize revenue and attract events
  • Actively participates in other operational functions as necessary, including but not limited to event setup and execution, attending all scheduled events and meetings, assisting other departments during outside or special events, etc.
  • Maintain proper inventories
  • Maintain neatness, cleanliness, and safety of the facilities
  • Maintain working knowledge of the following:
  • All program and fitness-related equipment
  • Any fitness-related software programs or hardware
  • Point of sale system
  • Property management system
  • Preventative maintenance contracts, schedules, policies, and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor's degree in recreation, sports management or related field with 10 years appropriate experience preferred
  • Fitness certification of level III or higher
  • Experience coaching/teaching both youth and adult sports
  • Must have proven track record of developing, marketing, and selling recreation and training programs
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and negotiating skills
  • Must be a team player
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules including weekends, nights, and holidays
  • Must possess current CPR/FIRST AID certifications or must be willing and able to obtain them within a specified period of time

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds' waist high
  • May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time whether indoors or outdoors, and squat, stoop or bend
  • Will be required to operate a computer
  • Facility has intermittent noise
