DIRECTOR OF EVENTS AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

PCBS SFM, LLC- PANAMA CITY BEACH SPORTS COMPLEX

STATUS:                            FULL-TIME (EXEMPT)  

Panama City Beach Sports Complex is a world-class complex that will open in the Summer of 2019. Located on 27 miles of beautiful beaches and the warm water of the Gulf of Mexico, the complex will be one of the premier locations in the Southeast as a sports tourism destination. The complex will boast up thirteen (13) rectangular fields, 5 collegiate fields for baseball/softball and up to ten (10) youth sized baseball/softball fields. The fields we be comprised of nine (9) synthetic turf and four (4) natural grass. In addition to the outdoor complex Phase 2 may include an 8-court facility that will host basketball, volleyball and mat sports.

POSITION SUMMARY:

PCBS SFM, LLC ("PCBS") is hiring a Director of Events & Business Development who will be responsible for the sales and execution of special events, programming and sporting events. Director of Events & Business Development will also work closely with other departments to manage staff scheduling and training. This position and the General Manager have the primary responsibility for generating revenue at the Panama City Beach Sports Complex.

Primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Event development and primary contact for all events after they have been contracted
  • Determines annual and gross-profit plans by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas for programs; projecting expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products; analyzing trends and results; establishing pricing strategies; recommending selling prices; monitoring costs, competition, supply, and demand
  • Accomplishes objectives by planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating advertising, merchandising, and trade promotion programs; developing field sales action plans
  • Identifies marketing opportunities by identifying consumer requirements; defining the market, competitor's share, and competitor's strengths and weaknesses; forecasting projected business; establishing targeted market share
  • Improves product marketability and profitability by researching, identifying, and capitalizing on market opportunities; improving product packaging; coordinating new product development
  • Sustains rapport with key accounts by making periodic visits; exploring specific needs; anticipating new opportunities
  • Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential
  • Accomplishes human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
  • Serve as Manager-On-Duty ("MOD") at certain key events
  • Participation in planning/strategic meetings
  • Work with finance department to track and report profitability 
  • Development of operational Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports
  • Various other duties as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor's degree in recreation, sports management, or related field
  • 3-5 years experience in recreation, sports management, events, or sales
  • Proven experience in youth sports, trade shows, consumer shows and convention sales for revenue in excess of 2 million dollars annually
  • Proven experience in contract negotiations, event creation, and planning
  • Experience with understanding hotel rebates and strategic partnerships between hotels, CVB, and venue
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and negotiating skills
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules including weekends, nights, and holidays
  • Prior responsibility in P&L management and budget oversight
  • All other duties assigned by management

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimal intermittent travel as needed to various trade shows, networking events, and corporate events

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds waist high
  • Will be required to sit for extended periods of time operating a computer
  • Will be required to conduct venue tours to prospective clients
  • Office environment has intermittent noise, normal in nature
