Job Summary: Horizon's Edge Sports Campus will become Shenandoah Valleys' premier sport and recreation center.  Located on 50 acres adjacent to Interstate 81 and 3 miles north of Downtown Harrisonburg, Horizon's Edge will consist of indoor and outdoor multi-use fields, combined with onsite F&B, lodging, conference and recreation opportunities. This position will oversee the implementation of the marketing action plan including online, print, familiarization visits, regional event relationship building, and more. The objectives for this position are to study revenue and cost trends, forecast future performance, understand highest and best use of the facility resources, contribute to the design of a robust marketing plan in support of the key goals identified, and then to execute that plan. This position will be evaluated based on the reach and quality of the brand marketing effort, the success of the programmatic marketing effort, sponsorships sold, events booked, the number of visitors generated, new business development, new program expansion, and sales pace. 

Essential Functions:

  • Provides assistance to various staff members who contribute to the business development and marketing efforts of the venue
  • Assists in creating traffic building promotions, and stages during all major events, contests, promotions
  • Assists in executing marketing tasks and advertising plans
  • Coordinates outside PR for the facility
  • Creates and distributes banquet and event promotions packages
  • Assists in graphic design by editing in-house flyers, invitations, print ads, posters, e-mails, and any other design needs on behalf of the facility
  • Manages website and updates site content
  • Manages social media accounts and posts relevant content consistently across all channels

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Development, Marketing, or Business Administration or a minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a similar or comparable position 
  • Skilled at identifying and creating opportunities to deliver revenue goals
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Beginner or advanced knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite products (specifically InDesign and Illustrator)
  • Beginner or advanced knowledge in website management (specifically in Wordpress)
  • Experience in managing social media accounts and posting on behalf of businesses
  • Driven self-starter who can work independently and effectively meets deadlines
  • Effective project management: ownership and accountability of projects from start to finish
  • Accomplishes marketing and organization mission by completing related results as needed
