The Horizons Edge Sports Campus is a 50-acre residential multi-use, multi-sport complex, nestled in between the Allegheny Mountains to the west and the Blue Ridge Mountain to the east, in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley in Harrisonburg Virginia.

The Horizons Edge Sports Campus will be a one-stop destination for sports, events, banquets, meetings, tradeshows, parties, overnight camps, and much more. The field house will consist of approximately 89,000 sq. ft. and include 4-basketball courts, 6-volleyball courts, a 200 by 100 feet. multipurpose/indoor soccer field, and a family entertainment center. Outdoor facilities will include a regulation size multipurpose/soccer lighted artificial turf field.

Job Summary: The Director of Sports Operations will manage all operational aspects of Horizon's Edge sports departments. The Director will work closely with the individual leaders of each sports program as well as other internal departments (i.e. Events, Marketing, etc.) to successfully accomplish these responsibilities.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage and Execute all operational aspects of Horizons Edge Sports Campus clubs, leagues, tournaments, clinics, and sports camps
  • Primary contact for all sports events at Horizons Edge
  • Manage and optimize ongoing facility schedule
  • Develop programming to target various markets ranging from corporate, group, adult/youth/family, and special interest groups.
  • Attract business opportunities through relationships and networking
  • Assist with sponsorship sales as needed
  • Develop and manage sports department budgets.
  • Create and develop sales initiatives and goals for sports programs
  • Track and report weekly sales totals.
  • Hire, train, manage, and motivate sports program staff.
  • Actively participates in other operational functions as necessary, attending all scheduled events and meetings, assisting other departments during outside or special events, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience coaching/teaching both youth and adult sports.
  • Must have proven track record of developing, marketing, and selling recreation and training programs.
  • Must have excellent leadership, organizational, problem solving, and negotiating skills.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules including weekends, nights, and holidays.
  • Must possess current CPR/FIRST AID certifications or must be willing and able to obtain them within a specified period.
  • A bachelor's degree in recreation, sports management or related field with 5 years appropriate experience preferred.
