The Athletes in Action Sports Conference and Retreat Center (SCRC) is a hub for local and international sports ministry on a stunning 250-acre property in Xenia, OH. This combination of outdoor sports fields, dormitories, challenge course, and banquet center (in addition to the soon-to-be constructed indoor fieldhouse) will attract more than 300,000 annual guests to the Athletes in Action Campus. While participating in such hosted events as tournaments, team retreats, camps, and conferences, sports-minded individuals will learn what it means to compete as a Total Athlete (embracing the intersection of physical, mental, and spiritual components to play with greater motivation and live with a greater purpose in mind).

The Business Development Manager's primary role is to promote the facility as a sports and special events venue in support of AIA's mission to see Christ-followers on every team, in every sport, in every nation.  This will be accomplished by overseeing the implementation of marketing campaigns to build awareness of the SCRC and Athletes in Action, while assisting in maximizing facility utilization and contributing toward revenue goals.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

For this position:

  • Craft the marketing plan in partnership with the SFM Account Manager and AIA Marketing Team
  • Execute the marketing plan and strategic initiatives supporting AIA's goal of developing individuals spiritually, mentally, and physically
  • Partner with the Sports and Program Director to coordinate the activities of each of the program directors to establish and hit target metrics for programs, participants, and revenue
  • Content development for all SCRC communications of any form in collaboration with AIA communications department
  • Manage social media business accounts, their content, and implementation
  • Manage facility presence to potential customers in all relevant industry channels
  • Research and analyze market conditions, advising on trends, pricing strategies, competition, supply, and demand
  • Improve marketability and profitability by researching, identifying, and capitalizing on market opportunities; suggesting program improvement and new program development
  • Assist in maintaining facility event calendar for all booked events



Knowledge of:

  • Marketing concepts
  • Customer Relationship Management platforms (CRM)
  • Management of corporate web platforms using WordPress
  • Social media platforms
  • Advanced knowledge in using Microsoft Office and or Google G Suite
  • Adobe Creative Suite, specifically in InDesign and Illustrator

Ability to:

  • Manage marketing and/or business development budget(s)
  • Develop content and write with company voice in mind
  • Manage multiple digital platforms or software for a variety of tasks such as cloud file or project management
  • Identify and create opportunities or promotions to deliver revenue goals
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills combined with problem solving and negotiating skills
  • Be a team player and deadline driven
  • Demonstrate action-oriented 'get it done' attitude and proficiency for efficiency
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written skills
  • Work flexible work schedule (nights, weekends, holidays and long hours)

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or advertising, and minimum of 3 years' experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Proven success in generating awareness through consumer marketing and branding
  • Youth and amateur sports as a consumer, marketing professional, or other relevant experience
  • Hands on use of CRM platforms preferred
  • Skill in measuring and reporting marketing/advertising campaign analytics used to assist in measuring ROI, efficiency, and effectiveness of campaign activity
  • Marketing research to gain consumer insights (locally and regionally) to identify key selling points for attracting corporate/organization relationships including sponsorship and financial partnerships, or business
  • Skill in facilitating the successful promotion, booking, and delivering special events
  • Writing press releases and managing media relationships
