Sports Facilities Management, LLC ("SFM") is emerging as the global leader in youth and adult sport, fitness, leisure, and entertainment management (www.sportadvisory.com). SFM manages the day-to-day operations of world-class, community-focused sports and recreation centers, sports tourism and event-focused destinations, and sports and entertainment complexes with the mission to "improve the health and economic vitality of the communities we serve". SFM affiliated facilities hosted more than 20 million visits last year. Sports Facilities Advisory, LLC ("SFA") is the leading resource for those seeking to plan, fund, manage, and optimize sports, recreation, event and entertainment centers. SFM is currently recruiting experienced Youth Coaches in the sports of Football, Soccer, Field Hockey, Baseball/Softball, and Lacrosse (and, eventually, managers) at its managed facility, Apex Sports & Events, located in Hillsborough NJ. 

Apex Sports & Events is a state-of-the-art, 200,000-sq. ft. venue located in Hillsborough, NJ, just an hour outside of New York City. We are a multi-sport training, recreation, events, and entertainment facility that will serve as a hub for a full spectrum of sports, as well as many other recreation and community pursuits. The facility will provide an atmosphere of community to sports clubs, event organizers, and participants and will focus on five principle offerings:

-Youth Sports: instructional programs, clinics, leagues, tournaments, events (birthdays, recruiting and keynote speaker symposiums), camps, and club teams

-Sports Performance and fitness training

-Adult Sports: leagues, tournaments, and events

-Fun, affordable, family entertainment and food & beverage

-Facility rental for corporate meetings and social gathering events

 

Apex houses indoor and outdoor turf fields, hardwood courts, batting tunnels, clip n' climb walls, ninja & aerial ropes courses, sports performance areas, a family entertainment center with interactive arcade and VR games, multi-purpose rooms, a corporate center, and food & beverage service.

Youth Sports Instructors will run the facility's youth sports programs, including, but not limited to: Leagues, Developmental Classes (ages 3-8), After-School/Home School programs, Clinics, Camps, Private/Semi-private Training sessions, and Birthday Parties.

 

Coaching at Apex requires a demonstrated ability to motivate and direct young players. The ideal candidate will have some formal experience coaching youth players within a premier/select/travel/club/recreational program, and familiar with contemporary coaching methodology. Applicants should be able to construct, articulate, and execute proper sessions and deliver curriculum in line with organizational philosophy. NOTE:  Candidates must not currently be employed with a competing venue or partner organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Teaching relevant skills, tactics, and techniques
  • Monitoring, evaluating, and enhancing athlete performance and needs
  • Providing suitable feedback via positivity, encouragement, example, and motivation
  • Demonstrating an activity by breaking down the task or technique into a sequence
  • Communicating instructions using clear, simple language
  • Must enjoy interacting with a wide age range of athletes and be able to teach to an individual and group
  • Friendly and courteous with athletes, parents, and Apex team members
  • Identifying athlete strengths and areas for development
  • Neat in appearance and professional in manner and communication
  • Inspiring confidence and self-belief
  • Ensuring a safe environment for all athletes
  • Implementing the curriculum in an accurate, creative, positive, and efficient fashion
  • Adaptation of curriculum and activities to different learning styles

 

 

DESIRED/REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 2 years of appropriate coaching/teaching sport in youth programs
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, not required
  • Coaching licenses (or active pursuit of) preferred
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills
  • Must be a team player
  • Must have excellent verbal skills
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, predominately after-school and weekends
  • Must possess current CPR/FIRST AID certifications, or willingness to obtain within a specified period of time

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to move or lift lightweight equipment
  • Position requires standing and activity for extended periods of time (indoors or outdoors), squatting, stooping, jogging, or bending into awkward positions while performing job functions
