Facility Maintenance Team Member

Sports Facilities Management, LLC ("SFM") is emerging as the global leader in youth and adult sport, fitness, leisure, and entertainment management (www.sportadvisory.com). Sports Facilities Advisory, LLC ("SFA") is the leading resource for those seeking to plan, fund, manage, and optimize sports, recreation, event and entertainment centers. SFM is currently recruiting candidates for the position of Front Desk & Caf attendants (and, eventually, managers) at its managed facility, Apex Sports & Events, located in Hillsborough NJ. 


Apex Sports & Events is a state-of-the-art, 200,000-sq. ft. venue located in Hillsborough, NJ, just an hour outside of New York City. We are a multi-sport training, recreation, events, and entertainment facility that will serve as a hub for a full spectrum of sports, as well as many other recreation and community pursuits. The facility will provide an atmosphere of community to sports clubs, event organizers, and participants and will focus on five principle offerings:


-Youth sports training programs, clinics, and camps

-Sports performance and fitness training

-Youth and adult leagues, tournaments, and events

-Fun, affordable, family entertainment and food & beverage

-Facility rental for corporate meetings and social gathering events


Apex houses indoor and outdoor turf fields, hardwood courts, batting tunnels, clip and climb walls, ninja & aerial ropes courses, sports performance areas, a family entertainment center with interactive games, multi-purpose rooms, a corporate center, and food & beverage service.

  • Maintain overall appearance and cleanliness of the field & facility to include, but not limited to, lining sports fields, managing garbage flow, filling holes, replenishing turf pellets, general field grooming, keeping walkways salted and clear of debris, maintaining the organization of equipment and maintenance sheds, upkeep of facility maintenance system and equipment.
  • Inventory, organize, and stock closets, toolboxes, and maintenance areas
  • Coordinate cleaning schedule around daily activities
  • Knowledge of building internals (sprinkler systems, HVAC systems, alarm systems, etc.)
  • Manage utilities (lights, temperature controls, heaters, etc)
  • Maintain and repair playing surfaces
  • Schedule and perform maintenance on facility equipment
  • Coordinate with managers on facility repairs to avoid conflicts
  • Contract maintenance with outside vendors when necessary
  • Handle inspections (fire, sprinkler, elevator, etc)


  • Monitor and maintain overall appearance and cleanliness of the building and grounds
  • Coordinate maintenance and repair work with managers and contractors to avoid conflicts and maximize usage of courts
  • Monitor and perform tasks associated with keeping all walkways and flower beds clear of weeds, grass, trash, water, ice, etc.
  • Assist with the development of the annual maintenance plan/log, including but not limited to the repairing, cleaning
  • Operate and maintain sports equipment
  • Maintain all trees, shrubbery and flower beds
  • Operate maintenance machinery to include but not limited to field grooming equipment, snow plow/shovel, Maintenance Utility Vehicle.
  • Ensure parking lot is clean and maintained
  • Keep inventory of supplies and equipment as well as maintenance logs
  • Make sure all paperwork is in compliance and up to date
  • Follow up with guest feedback to learn how the facility can continually be improved
  • Complete special projects and daily assignments as directed by General Manager/Director of Ops.


  • Preferred experience working with sports facilities and associated grounds and equipment
  • General knowledge of maintenance, janitorial, and landscaping
  • High School Diploma required
  • At least three (2) years of related experience 
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving and negotiating skills
  • Must be a team player with a positive can-do attitude
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills (coordinating schedule visits from outside vendors & contractors)
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be able to obtain CPR/FIRST AID certifications within a specific time period


  • May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time whether indoors or outdoors, and squat, stoop, lift, or bend
  • Pushing/pulling/lifting 100+ lbs. 
  • Ability to navigate around the facility for long periods of time
  • Ability to climb elevated areas to complete tasks (i.e. ladders, lift for scoreboards, etc.)
  • Facility/Field has intermittent noise
